2010/2011 Membership

Letchworth Garden City Angling Association has a membership of 650 full paying members made up from Seniors , Juniors / Senior Citizens and Disabled anglers. Membership with the association runs from 1st May to the 30th April. Historically LGCAA have always operated a closed season at Poppy Hill from the 1st of April to June 15th inclusive. This year however it is the committees intention to offer its existing 2009 membership the opportunity to fish right through to May the 30th.

Note: 2010/11 membership books will not be valid until June 16th.

All members where applicable must be in possession of a current Environment Agency rod license and should carry them at all times with their club books when fishing association waters. Membership fees for the 2009/2010 season are as follows:

 
  • Senior*: £70
  • Junior**: £35
  • Senoir Citizen*: £45
  • Man & Wife*: £115
  • Family Ticket* (Man,Wife & 2 Junior**): £150

* Membership includes a key to the gate at Poppy Hill, 2 keys are provided with Man & Wife and Family tickets. Replacement keys are available by contacting the Membership Secretary at a cost of £5 per key.

** Junior tickets are available to anyone between the ages of 12 and 16 on June 16th and hold a junior Environment Agency rod license. Children under the age of 12 do not need a rod license and can fish in the same swim as a senior on most of our waters using one of his 2 rod maximum allocation.

Membership entitles you to fish the following association waters:

Poppy Hill at Henlow, River Ouse at Felmersham & Ely, River Cam at Clayhithe, Counter Wash at Welches Dam, Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes, Ivel Protection Association Waters (Holme Mill, Back Meadows, Biggleswade Common, Sandy New Road, Sandy, Girtford Bridge, Blunham) and The Blue Lagoon at Arlesey.

It also entitles you to purchase an additional supplement to fish the Green Lagoon at Arlesey as a member. Supplements and keys are now available from Ultimate Angling Centre in Hitchin.
Thomsons Tackle In Arlesey who previously handled Green Lagoon supplements is no longer open. Non members can fish only the Green Lagoon on a day ticket, available from our Bailif on the bank.

Between the 1st of April through to the 30th of May, current 2009 membership holders can continue to fish Lake 1, Lake 2, Jubilee Lake and the Canal from Monday to Saturday.

On Sundays the entire Poppy Hill complex will close to enable workparties to take place as usual. Members night fishing on a Saturday will be requested to have vacated their swim and left the complex no later than 7:30am Sunday morning.  
For those completing 18 hours or more on Sunday workpartys the 2010 season will start as usual on the 1st of June, for all other members Poppy Hill will re-open on June the 16th.

Unfortunately Lake 3 cannot be fished after the 31st of March, therefore will close and reopen the following season. The usual environment agency laws (closed 15 March to 15 June inclusive) apply to rivers.
