The annual Christmas Fayre attracted 27 anglers on a pleasant winter solstice day.
Plenty of small roach fed despite the winter conditions where the air temperature peaked at just 4 degrees centigrade.
Low water and air temperatures signalled harsh winter conditions which were mirrored in the fishing for most of the 17 club match anglers.

Work, Work, Work.............So much to do!
The Associations policy of giving its members quality fishing in beautiful surroundings takes a lot of doing. Sure we have a team of dedicated volunteers that make up the Fisheries Management Committee (FMC) and the General Purposes Committee (GPC) but we can't do it all on our own. As you can appreciate it takes a lot of hard work keeping our venues as good as they are. That's why your help as a member is needed. Work Parties take place every Sunday during the day and Wednesday evenings during April and May. Jobs range from cutting back bushes and tidying up, to laying chippings along the footpaths, to rebuilding and repairing swims. 
Our work parties are run with a friendly atmosphere, plenty of Tea drinking and for a small donation a Bacon sandwich or two. It's a great way for existing members to catch up over the past season, and new members find out more about the lakes and the fishing. All tools are provided as is any protective equipment, but we would suggest wearing suitable clothing and footwear. 
So what are you doing during the closed season this year?
If your able to donate just a few hours of your time the FMC/GPC would be most appreciated. Remember your help wont go unrewarded though! Any members completing 18 hours or more (that's just 3 Sundays out of 8) will be allowed to fish Poppy Hill from the 1st of June and join the customary start of the season BBQ. This will give you over 2 weeks head start on all the other members, and to be honest the best 2 weeks fishing of the season.
Mid Season Work Parties.
Sometimes it may be necessary to perform urgent mid-season work. On these occasions we would ask for your patience and consideration. We shall seek to minimise any inconvenience to your fishing as much as possible. Please understand that any work is carried out for your benefit.
