Leptospirosis (Weils disease)
Club Match - Poppy Hill : Canal
Yet another match was transferred from a flooded river this time the canal was used instead of the river Rib.
Despite the very high water level plus wet and windy weather conditions every one caught fish.
Drawn at fancied peg 3 I ran out winner with 9lbs 11ozs. Using the pole first at eight meters, where the depth was about seven feet, and then at thirteen meters close to the far bank I fed casters and nearly dry ground bait. A carp of 1lb, a 10oz roach, 3 tiny perch and approximately 30 small chub made up the catch.
Steve Mayes chose waggler and maggot tactics at peg 18 where a shoal of roach and some skimmer bream gave plenty of bites. His net pulled the scales around to 9lbs 2ozs for second place.
Malcolm Gibbs at peg 16 also took roach with some chub on a waggler rig to weigh 5lbs 11ozs while Rick Green at peg 20 found 5lbs 9ozs. with a few roach and skimmer bream by pole fishing near the far bank Norfolk reeds.
